rox2I have bought loads of eyelash curlers for years and found that a lot of people were raving about the Shu Uemura ones. Needless to say, I was drawn in by all the hype!

Tam-Tam or Flim-Flam?

I’ve decided to try Shu Uemura Eyelashes Curler when my MAC curler broke down. I knew, for a fact, that this beauty tool captivated a lot of attention because the emblematic curler states to deliver the perfect curl. Also, the patented hinge vows to apply the perfect amount of pressure on eyelashes while its ergonomic handles ensure stability and control. But… does this curler deliver when put to work?

I bought my Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler with Silicone Refill from Sephora store and I expected miracle eyelashes, as promised on the company’s website. In the past, my problem with curlers was that they were hard to get in deep and close enough to grasp the lashes at the base. Even when steering it as best as possible, at least two-three attempts per eye were needed to get all the lashes curled-up. So, straight to the mirror after arriving home with my cherished new eyelashes curler. Well, let’s just say that with Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler I didn’t need to make multiple attempts to get it lined up with my lashes; before squeezing down, I could see ALL my lashes sticking through the curler. One gentle, persistent squeeze later, and ALL my lashes were curled from corner to corner. It must be how the product is angled away from the face, and the curve of the pad; or maybe the fact that this product is made in Japan?

The truth is Shu Uemura is a very good curler. It impressed me to some extent and it is indeed the only one I am currently using. However, I didn’t see a huge difference between the curlers I used before and my new one. It is clearly superior to the cheaper ones. It creates a better curl quickly and effortlessly, and it is also less likely to pinch the upper lid. All in all, this Shu Uemura curler is a very good one. It works well but it does also matter what mascara you use (preferably a good quality one). Eyelashes will stay curled-up for over six hours when you apply a waterproof mascara, for three-four hours with regular mascara and for about 15 -20 minutes without mascara.
